Obsessed with art from an early age, Lucre started drawing as soon as he could hold a pencil. Growing up in rural Brenham, Texas, he spent all of his free time with a sketchbook, drawing cartoons and superheroes. Lucre avoided drawing anything realistic because he never thought it wouldn't look realistic enough.
Lucre said, “It’s ironic that I spend so much of my time airbrushing in photo-realism now because I was terrible at drawing anything real when I was growing up.”
At 18, he left the rural country and joined the United States Navy where she spent the next several years serving aboard the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72). After completing his military commitment, he became a full-time student while working to establish himself as an entrepreneur. By the time he started his first business art was put on the back burner.
“I believe that living with art enhances the experience, letting a person have a deeper connection to emotion, beauty, and thought that art gives. I try to let people see art through a different lens.” -Lucre
In September of 2023, Lucre decided to leave the entrepreneurship. Lucre decided to be an artist full-time and opened up House of Lucre in Houston Texas.
“This has been the scariest thing I have ever done, but also the most amazing experience of my life. There is no doubt in my mind that this is what I was meant to do. I am so grateful to wake up every morning happy and doing what I love!”
-Lucre
